Falker scores 15 points to lead Southern Illinois over Wichita State 63-52
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Forward Randal Falker scored a game-high 15 points to lead Southern Illinois past Wichita State 63-52 Saturday at SIU Arena.
Joshua Bone and Bryan Mullins each added 11 points for the Salukis (9-9, 4-3 Missouri Valley).
Gal Mekel led the Shockers (8-10, 1-6 Missouri Valley) in scoring with 12 points and hit 5-of-6 free throws. Mantas Griskenas chipped in 11 points and had five rebounds. They were the only two players for Wichita State in double digits.
Southern Illinois went into the half with a 30-23 advantage. The Shockers tied the game, 32-32, early in the second half, but the Salukis came back with a 13-2 run. Their biggest lead of the game was at 2:36 in the second when they were ahead by 16 points.
Southern Illinois shot 45.2 percent (19-for-42) from the field for the game. That compared with 38.6 percent (17-for-44) for Wichita State. The Shockers out-rebounded the Salukis 31-29.
