Sam Matthews treble downs Solihull Moors

Sam Matthews hit a hat-trick as rampant Eastleigh crushed Solihull Moors 4-1 in the National League.The midfielder on-loan from Bournemouth stole the show with the first three goals as the visitors ended a run of four straight defeats to finish the season in style.Matthews opened the scoring in the 34th minute, sweeping home a cut-back from Chris Zebroski.He doubled his tally in the 52nd minute with a fine individual goal, driving forwards before firing home.Matthews completed his treble just three minutes later, tucking home a loose ball after a ricochet fell to him in the area.And Matthews was involved in the fourth goal too, getting to the byline and sending the ball across the face of goal for Paul McCallum to tap home.The hosts grabbed a consolation in the 76th minute as Adi Yussuf cut inside and blasted an effort into the top corner, but Eastleigh were already home and dry.

Solihull safe after win over Tranmere

Solihull guaranteed their place in the Vanarama National League next season after beating second-placed Tranmere at Prenton Park.The visitors only needed a point to secure safety but took all three with a 2-1 win that left them in the relative comfort of 15th with a game to go.Jamey Osborne put his side in the lead after 32 minutes, Jermaine Hylton with the assist after winning the ball and laying it off, and Alex Reid blasted a fine second shortly after the hour mark.Tranmere, with a play-off semi-final place already assured, hit back through Devarn Green but could not add a second to nick a share of the spoils.

Sollihull's excellent 1-1 draw at in-form AFC Fylde was not quite enough to secure Vanarama National League safety, but only a peculiar combination of results on the final day can deny them now.Omari Sterling-James fired the visitors into a surprise early lead, hitting his effort sweetly past Jay Lynch from a short free-kick by Darren Carter.Andy Bond got Fylde's second half off to the perfect start when he tamed Jon Smith's vicious left-wing cross with a bullet header into the net.The tide was turning, and Tyrone Williams had to block Smith's effort on the line to preserve parity. The failure to win denied the Coasters the chance of securing a play-off spot going into the final set of matches.

Fourth-placed Aldershot were held to a 0-0 draw on Good Friday at relegation-threatened Solihull Moors in the Vanarama National League.The struggling hosts looked the brighter of the sides in the first half, striker Jermaine Hylton finding himself through on goal after 25 minutes only to be thwarted by Lewis Ward.The Shots played more positively in the second half, introducing Fabien Robert and Jim Kellerman in a bid to boost the attack, but the game remained goalless.The result meant the Moors remained in the relegation zone - level on points with 20th-placed Barrow, who have two games in hand - while Aldershot stayed hot on the heels of Wrexham, behind the Welsh side only on goal difference.

FC Halifax held at home by struggling Solihull

FC Halifax missed the chance to put more daylight between themselves and fourth-bottom Solihull as they drew 0-0 at the Shay.Mike Fondop-Talom missed the home side's best chances, with the striker sent clean through in the first half after a slip by Fiacre Kelleher. The 24-year-old had time and space inside the box but skied his shot.Things got worse for the Guiseley loanee when he went down while rounding Solihull goalkeeper Max O'Leary only to be booked for simulation.Matthew Brown came agonisingly close to opening the scoring for Halifax in the second half as his 70th-minute header hit a post.Both keepers pulled off heroics in the closing stages. Sam Johnson made a point-blank save to keep out George Carline's headed effort, before O'Leary denied Fondop-Talom again five minutes from time.

Solihull edge closer to safety with win over Bromley

Solihull Moors gave their Vanarama National League survival hopes a boost with a 2-0 victory over Bromley at the Automated Technology Group Stadium.Kwame Thomas set them on their way to victory when he opened the scoring 13 minutes into the contest and Alex Reid made sure of victory deep into stoppage time.Moors made a strong start and Thomas latched onto a ball from Jamey Osborne but saw his shot cleared off the line after he had beaten David Gregory.However, he was not to be denied and found the net after 13 minutes. Liam Daly headed down Darren Carter's free-kick and Thomas was on hand to rifle home from close range.Max O'Leary then tipped Brandon Hanlan's effort around the post and with little goalmouth action in the second half substitute Reid latched onto a poor backpass to lift the ball over Gregory and into the net.

Adi Yussuf rescues Solihull a point against Torquay

Adi Yussuf scored a late equaliser as Solihull rescued a much-needed 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Torquay.Brett Williams put the visitors ahead with a 41st-minute penalty after Solihull's Fiacre Kelleher brought down Elliott Romain in the box.But the home side equalised eight minutes from time when Jamey Osborne's free-kick was headed on by Liam Daly and found Yussuf, who bagged a late point.The result leaves both teams in the National League relegation zone, with the hosts three points from safety and the Gulls five points further back.

Ten-man Gateshead secure late draw at home to Solihull Moors

A deflected Wes York strike in added time saw 10-man Gateshead earn a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw with struggling Solihull Moors.The hosts were reduced to 10 men after 11 minutes when Rees Greenwood shown a straight red card.And Solihull made the most of their numerical advantage 13 minutes before the break when Alex Reid fired in after good work by Jamie Reckord.Gateshead levelled things up in the 68th minute when Patrick McLaughlin volleyed home Fraser Kerr's cross.Solihull regained the lead in the 87th minute, with substitute Chris Lait scoring with his first touch but York's strike, which took a big deflection off Kyle Storer, in the fourth minute of added time saw Gateshead earn a point.

Bolarinwa strike earns high-flying Sutton victory over 10-man Solihull

Sutton remained hot on the heels of National League leaders Macclesfield with a 1-0 win over relegation-battling Solihull, who finished the match with 10 men.Sutton put on plenty of pressure in the first half and got their reward eight minutes before the break when Tom Bolarinwa scored from a corner.They had two chances to double their lead before the break as Max O'Leary had to turn Craig Eastmond's shot over the bar before Aswad Thomas' header from a corner was cleared off the line.Sutton continued to dominate in the second half without adding to the score, but any hopes of a Solihull fightback were ended in the 76th minute when Adi Yussuf got a second yellow card, this time for a deliberate handball.
