Mike Fondop-Talom misses late penalty as Maidstone hold Halifax

Maidstone and Halifax ended their National League campaigns with a goalless draw in a typical end-of-season affair at the Gallagher Stadium.Connor Oliver tested home stopper Lee Worgan from outside the area, and Jai Reason fired over for Maidstone at the other end.Halifax goalkeeper Sam Johnson was in tremendous form, producing a smart save to tip Tom Wraight's header over the crossbar.In the second half, substitute Jack Paxman released fellow replacement Jamar Loza with an excellent through ball, but the latter's first touch deserted him and the chance was snuffed out by Johnson.The Shaymen also spurned a late chance to win it from the penalty spot when Worgan plunged to stop Mike Fondop-Talom's effort.

Boreham Wood suffer play-off dent with loss at Halifax

Boreham Wood's Vanarama National League promotion hopes were dealt a blow as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at FC Halifax.The hosts made an excellent start, with Ben Tomlinson's effort being cleared off the line after he diverted Connor Thomson's cross goalward and Mike Fondop-Talom denied by Wood goalkeeper Grant Smith.The Shaymen took the lead after 20 minutes, with Matty Brown heading home a Connor Oliver corner.Smith kept Fondop-Talum at bay again, while at the other end Bruno Andrade fired narrowly over the bar.Boreham Wood equalised four minutes into the second half as Morgan Ferrier dispatched the ball into the top corner.However, Halifax restored their lead in the 64th minute as Michael Duckworth slid the ball through for Fondop-Talom, who chipped the ball over Smith.

AFC Fylde keep play-off push alive with victory over FC Halifax

AFC Fylde breathed new life into their play-off push in the Vanarama National League with a 2-0 home win against FC Halifax.A draw with Hartlepool and defeat at Dagenham and Redbridge had been blows to Fylde's top-seven prospects, but goals from Jonny Smith and James Hardy secured three valuable points at Mill Farm.Jack Muldoon hit the post twice for Fylde who were dominant and richly deserved to come out on top. They sit eighth, now just two points behind Dover.Smith broke the deadlock in the 47th minute thanks to a little good fortune, as his cross from the left evaded everyone and finished up in the Halifax net.Hardy drove home the advantage in the 54th minute when he rifled a low shot beyond goalkeeper Sam Johnson.Fylde pushed for a third goal and Lewis Montrose threatened with a header that Johnson did well to keep out.

FC Halifax held at home by struggling Solihull

FC Halifax missed the chance to put more daylight between themselves and fourth-bottom Solihull as they drew 0-0 at the Shay.Mike Fondop-Talom missed the home side's best chances, with the striker sent clean through in the first half after a slip by Fiacre Kelleher. The 24-year-old had time and space inside the box but skied his shot.Things got worse for the Guiseley loanee when he went down while rounding Solihull goalkeeper Max O'Leary only to be booked for simulation.Matthew Brown came agonisingly close to opening the scoring for Halifax in the second half as his 70th-minute header hit a post.Both keepers pulled off heroics in the closing stages. Sam Johnson made a point-blank save to keep out George Carline's headed effort, before O'Leary denied Fondop-Talom again five minutes from time.

Halifax deny 10-man Guiseley

Basement club Guiseley missed the chance to claim a vital National League win over Halifax after they were forced to play more than half the game with 10 men in a 1-1 draw.Kayode Odejayi headed the hosts into the lead from a 13th minute free-kick and they dominated the match and possession in the first half.However, the end of the first period was marred by a brawl, with Guiseley midfielder John Rooney shown a straight red card and Halifax defender Scott McManus shown yellow.Halifax took advantage of their extra man in the 68th minute when Ben Tomlinson got on the end of a long ball forward to find the leveller.

Two goals in as many second-half minutes saw Halifax come from behind to beat Dagenham & Redbridge 2-1.Halifax had a good opportunity to open the scoring after 17 minutes when Michael Collins started a swift counter-attack and crossed into the box, only for Raheem Hanley to rifle his shot over the bar.Both teams continued to create chances as the first half wore on and Dagenham broke the deadlock five minutes before the break when Charlee Adams' 35-yard strike was deflected into the back of the net.The hosts flew out of the blocks after the interval, with Ben Tomlinson going close on three occasions before Nathan Hotte hit the bar in the 63rd minute.Halifax levelled things up in the 68th minute when Dagenham's Jake Howells turned the ball beyond his own goalkeeper before Mike Fondop-Talom made it 2-1 one minute later.

Matthew Kosylo bags a brace to heap more misery on Woking

Matthew Kosylo scored twice as Halifax piled more misery on Woking with a 3-1 away win.Kosylo's brace and debutant Connor Thomson's late third extended the home side's winless run in the National League to five games.The visitors took the lead from the penalty spot when Kosylo was taken down in the area by Kane Ferdinand and stepped up to send goalkeeper Nathan Baxter the wrong way.Woking levelled five minutes into the second half when Charlie Carter diverted team-mate Regan Charles-Cook's shot into the net.But Kosylo put Halifax back ahead 16 minutes later when he found the far top corner from a tight angle and Thomson wrapped up the points by turning in Michael Duckworth's cross.

Eastleigh held by Halifax

Eastleigh and Halifax earned a share of the spoils as they played out a goalless draw at the Silverlake Stadium. Chris Zebroski was denied by a good save by Sam Johnson before Cavaghn Miley shot wide and Sam Matthews blazed over the crossbar as Eastleigh dominated the first half but they could not break down the Halifax defence.Matty Kosylo missed a chance for the visitors after skilfully beating two defenders before a last-ditch tackle from Reda Johnson denied the winger while, at the other end, Johnson went close on two occasions to break the deadlock but could not get his efforts on target.Paul McCallum failed to make contact with a Matthews cut-back as the hosts pressed but the Shaymen held on to move five points clear of the relegation zone.

Josh Rees' brace fires Bromley into play-off positions

Josh Rees grabbed a brace as Bromley swept past Halifax 3-0 at Hayes Lane to enter the play-off positions. The Ravens led early in the second half when Adam Mekki whipped in a free-kick and Louis Dennis flicked in a header off the bar. Just four minutes later, Rees added a second, pouncing after Sam Johnson had saved Jack Holland's initial effort. The third goal took a little while to be confirmed as Rees appeared to bundle the ball over the line at the end of a goalmouth scramble. The referee and his assistant eventually concurred to the hosts' benefit.The reverse meant the Shaymen are still waiting for their first league win since Christmas.
