Woking relegated as Dover miss out on play-offs

Woking were relegated from the National League following a 2-1 home defeat by Dover, who missed out on the play-offs despite Keanu Marsh-Brown's stoppage-time winner.Both sides started the game knowing they needed to win for different reasons, Dover to give themselves any chance of reaching the play-offs and Woking to boost their chances of staying up.Things looked good for Dover in the 26th minutes when Giancarlo Gallifuoco headed his fourth goal of the season from Mitch Brundle's corner from the right.But seven minutes before half-time, Woking got themselves back on level terms when Charlie Carter showed great composure to score after being set up by Reece Grego-Cox before hitting the crossbar with a header moments later.But Marsh-Brown's late winner left Dover needing a Wrexham goal to beat AFC Fylde but it never came to leave Athletic missing out on the play-offs on goal difference.

Maidenhead ease relegation fears with win over Woking

Maidenhead eased any remaining relegation fears with a last-gasp 2-1 win over Woking, who are now just one point above the drop zone.The Magpies had the first chance of the game as Harry Pritchard squared the ball to Sean Marks but his shot flew inches wide.Moses Emmanuel was not too far away with a lobbed attempt from 20 yards, while at the other end, Regan Charles-Cook sliced over the crossbar from a good position.Pritchard was denied before the break and the same player came close again early in the second half.But it was Woking who took the lead in the 76th minute when a mistake in the home defence allowed Jonathan Edwards to slam the ball home.Maidenhead were back on level terms with nine minutes remaining when substitute Adrian Clifton headed in a Ryan Upward free-kick and both teams pushed for a winner.It was the home side who snatched victory with two minutes left as Sam Barrett's pinpoint cross was tapped home by Marks.

Staunton earns Woking point with Dagenham

Josh Staunton's second-half equaliser saw Woking end a run of three successive National League defeats after a 1-1 draw with Dagenham.Daggers made the perfect start when Dan Sparkes curled a superb free-kick into the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar after nine minutes.Mark Cousins in the home goal then had to be sharp to push away a free-kick from Chez Isaac.The visitors were level two minutes after the break when Staunton headed home a corner.Louie Theophanous then broke clear and beat Cousins but the goal was ruled out for offside.Fejiri Okenabirhie then glided past a couple of challenges and saw his shot from 20 yards clip the top of the crossbar.

Macclesfield defy wet conditions to stretch lead

Macclesfield extended their lead at the top of the Vanamara National League to six points with a last-gasp 3-2 victory in wet conditions at Woking. Charlie Carter poked the Cards ahead after a spill from Macclesfield keeper Shwan Jalal only for Nathan Blissett to equalise, rising gazelle-like to head in a pin-point cross in the 35th minute.The increasingly waterlogged pitched did not stop the high tempo of the game, Macclesfield confidently taking the lead through an unstoppable Tyrone Marsh volley early in the second half only for Reece Grego-Cox to pop up at the back post from a corner to level in the 84th minute.Macclesfield manager John Askey was sent to the stands late on for dissent but his side grabbed the win in bizarre circumstances. Marsh was already celebrating as his shot stuck in the mud in the six-yard box, but Danny Whitehead followed in to slide the ball home and spare his team-mate's blushes.

Macauley Bonne brace helps Leyton Orient to overdue home win

Macauley Bonne bagged a first-half brace as Leyton Orient claimed their first National League home win since Boxing Day by beating Woking 3-0.After Jason Banton had struck the crossbar for Woking moments earlier, Bonne opened the scoring in the 10th minute, converting at the second attempt following a Joey Jones error.Bonne doubled Orient's lead from the penalty spot seven minutes later after Jones felled James Brophy, taking his tally for the season to 18.Woking - now winless on the road in 12 games - were forced to play the final 20 minutes with 10 men, Regan Charles-Cook being stretchered off with all three subs having been used.The home side made the numerical advantage count as they wrapped the game up 10 minutes from time, Brophy firing into the bottom corner from 25 yards.

Matthew Kosylo bags a brace to heap more misery on Woking

Matthew Kosylo scored twice as Halifax piled more misery on Woking with a 3-1 away win.Kosylo's brace and debutant Connor Thomson's late third extended the home side's winless run in the National League to five games.The visitors took the lead from the penalty spot when Kosylo was taken down in the area by Kane Ferdinand and stepped up to send goalkeeper Nathan Baxter the wrong way.Woking levelled five minutes into the second half when Charlie Carter diverted team-mate Regan Charles-Cook's shot into the net.But Kosylo put Halifax back ahead 16 minutes later when he found the far top corner from a tight angle and Thomson wrapped up the points by turning in Michael Duckworth's cross.

Byron Harrison and Tom Bolarinwa on target as Sutton see off Woking

Sutton United claimed their third straight win to reduce the gap to National League leaders Macclesfield to two points with a 2-0 victory over Woking at Borough Sports Ground.On-loan Barrow striker Byron Harrison handed the home side the lead after 33 minutes as he bundled the ball over the line for his third goal in three games from his side's second corner of the night. Midfielder Tom Bolarinwa doubled the Yellows' score nine minutes after the break as he turned home Harry Beautyman's cross for his fourth goal of the season.Bolarinwa came close to completing his brace with 25 minutes remaining, but his long-range effort was kept out as Sutton extended their unbeaten league run to nine games.

Boreham Wood held to goalless draw by Woking

Damon Lathrope suffered a serious injury as Woking frustrated Vanarama National League play-off hopefuls Boreham Wood by holding them to a goalless draw.The visitors were targeting a fifth straight win which would have boosted them above Tranmere and Aldershot and up to third in the table.The Wood dominated the first half, with Angelo Balanta and Bruno Andrade both shaving paint off posts before the former volleyed just over from outside the box.After the break, however, Grant Smith was forced to make an acrobatic save to stop Louie Theophanous heading home for Woking.Any momentum that was building in the second half dissipated when a collision involving Lathrope forced a lengthy break in play as the Woking midfielder received treatment.When Lathrope left the pitch on a stretcher and the stadium in an ambulance, play could resume, and Chez Isaac went closest to grabbing a late winner by thrashing over for the Wood.

Ben Fox's late strike sees Woking's winless run continue

Woking's run without a Vanarama National League win was extended to nine games after Ben Fox's fine late strike earned Gateshead a 1-1 draw.Woking almost went ahead in the 24th minute when Anthony Cook spread the play wide to Reece Grego-Cox and he played the ball across the face of the goal but an unmarked Jonathan Edwards could not get a touch on the ball to turn it home.And Edwards had another opportunity 10 minutes before the break when he turned a defender on the edge of the box but his effort went the wrong side of the post.And in first-half stoppage time Charlie Carter fired over from close range after a goalmouth scramble caused panic in the Gateshead box but the goal Woking had been threatening came six minutes after the interval when Grego-Cox drilled the ball low into the left corner of the net.The closest Gateshead came was when Woking defender Joseph Jones sliced a clearance narrowly wide of his own post before they drew level 10 minutes from time.Fox met Scott Barrow's cross from the right and struck a superb half-volley into the net from 20 yards and moments later Barrow almost hit a winner but Nathan Baxter got down to save well.

Improving Solihull win at Woking

Relegation-threatened Solihull extended their impressive unbeaten run to four matches with a convincing 3-0 win against Woking.Kwame Thomas gave the hosts the lead in the sixth minute with a back-heeled finish after Liam Daly's shot was blocked on the line as Moors started on the front foot.Jermaine Hylton doubled their advantage 12 minutes after the restart when he pounced on a loose ball before chipping the onrushing Nathan Baxter.Hylton wrapped up the three points with his second of the match when Daly fired in a pinpoint cross for the striker to head home with 18 minutes remaining.
