Houston Dynamo will miss playoffs after home loss to DC United
Houston, TEXAS -- The Houston Dynamo dropped a home game to DC United by a final score of 3-1 effectively putting their playoff hopes to bed for the 2014 MLS season.
DC's Taylor Kemp started the scoring in the 41st minute on a rebound that he buried in the back of the net past Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric. Fabian Espindola scored the second for DC on a breakaway chance chipped just over Deric.
Trying to keep their season alive, Giles Barnes slid a penalty in for Houston with less than 10 minutes to play.
However, Eddie Johnson calmly netted an 88th minute goal to seal the victory for DC and the fate of Houston.
DC is a virtual lock to win the Eastern Conference and pull down a number-one seed for the playoffs. Houston is headed home after their season concludes with an Oct. 24 match vs. Chicago Fire.
