Caen 0-2 Guingamp

Guingamp moved six points clear of the Ligue 1 relegation zone with a vital 2-0 win away at fellow strugglers Caen.Claudio Beauvue had the visitors ahead just after the break with a fortuitous lob and Sylvain Marveaux put the result beyond doubt with a second goal midway through the second half. While the result afforded Guingamp some breathing space with four games of the season remaining, it left Caen just a single point above the drop zone. The home side had the first attempt on goal as Herve Bazile tried his luck from distance but fired wide.Caen would actually have the best of the first half as Damien Da Silva headed wide from Thomas Lemar's corner and Emiliano Sala hit the crossbar with a similar effort.Lemar then brought a save from Jonas Lossl as his free-kick was punched away by the goalkeeper with both fists.Despite being under pressure for most of the first half, it was Guingamp who took the lead in bizarre fashion.Beauvue was on the right flank and hit a cross which Remy Vercoutre completely misjudged and allowed to go over his head and into the back of the net. That prompted some real urgency from Caen and Lemar tried a shot from distance which went wide. But in the 66th minute, Guingamp had their second. Moustapha Diallo surged forward on the counter-attack and found Christophe Mandanne, who dummied and threaded the ball to Marveaux. The striker then beat Dennis Appiah for pace and curled the ball past Vercoutre. The visitors went close to a third as Younousse Sankhare and Beauvue combined to free Mandanne, but his shot was cleared off the line by Alaeddine Yahia.ends
