Nice fight back to beat Caen

A strong second half took Nice to a 3-2 win over Caen and 11th place in Ligue 1.Jordan Amavi's opener was overhauled by goals from Mathieu Duhamel and Lenny Nangis as Caen led 2-1 at the break. But Nice improved after the break and Eric Bautheac's penalty and Alassane Plea's strike swung the result their way.Plea was the first to threaten in the 10th minute but his long-range effort was no problem for Remy Vercoutre. Bengali-Fodi Koita went closer at the other end, his powerful shot forcing Simon Pouplin to parry but Duhamel was unable to take advantage from the rebound. The opening goal came in the 32nd minute when Bautheac swung in an excellent free-kick. Vercoutre did well to save but was helpless when Amavi followed up to score. The lead lasted just six minutes before Nangis was brought down in the penalty area by Kevin Gomis and Duhamel sent Pouplin the wrong way from the spot. And the impressive Nangis made it 2-1 before half-time when he cut inside and beat two defenders before curling a superb effort past Pouplin.Carlos Eduardo fired over for Nice early in the second half but they equalised in the 63rd minute. Nangis was the villain on this occasion, dragging down Plea in the area, and Bautheac sent a 'Panenka' chipped penalty past Vercoutre.Nangis tried to make amends with another long-range curler, but this time sent it just wide. And Nice took a decisive lead in the 72nd minute when sloppy defending from the hosts gave Plea the chance to beat Vercoutre. He should have made the points safe with five minutes left, but Vercoutre denied him one-on-one and soon made a similar stop from Niklas Hult. Nice, though, held on for victory.
