Evian Thonon Gaillard 2-0 Guingamp

Evian made it back-to-back home wins to move out of the Ligue 1 relegation zone with a 2-0 victory over bottom side Guingamp at the Parc des Sports d'Annecy.Goals from Denmark internationals Daniel Wass and Nicki Billie Nielsen ensured a fifth win of the campaign and backed up their defeat of Nice last time out.Wass conjured a fine free-kick to break the deadlock just before the hour mark, with Nielsen making it safe nine minutes from time. The visitors threatened first when Cedric Mongongu's carelessness let in Claudio Beauvue, but he failed to work Jesper Hansen with a wayward shot. The hosts almost opened the scoring when Brou Angoua threatened to turn the ball beyond his own goalkeeper after intercepting Nicolas Benezet's dangerous cross. With only one goal in their previous four league games Evian's lack of potency in the final third was on show for all to see and it was Guingamp who went closest to getting on the scoresheet before the break.Sambou Yatabare dispossessed Yeltsin Tejeda just inside the Guingamp half before releasing Beauvue, but his long-range effort just cleared the crossbar with Hansen nowhere.Guingamp continued to create the better chances after the restart, Thibault Giresse half-volleying just past the post, only for Evian to break the deadlock against the run of play.Lionel Mathis' clumsy challenge 30 yards out gifted the hosts a free-kick which Wass expertly dispatched beyond Jonas Lossl into the top corner to turn the game on its head.Guingamp tried to offer an instant response but, after taking a tumble inside the area under a Clarck N'Sikulu challenge, Angoua was disappointed to see his half-hearted penalty claim turned down. The visitors continued to press Evian back and Beauvue was twice denied by the alert Hansen, who stopped a stinging drive and a header. However, it was Evian who wrapped up all three points when Adrian Thomasson's cross caused confusion inside the Guingamp area leaving substitute Nielsen with a simple close-range finish. There was still time for Guingamp's Moustapha Diallo to see his header cleared off the line with Hansen well beaten but Evian clung to their clean sheet.ends
