Posh in play-off place after win
Ten-man Peterborough moved into the League One play-off places thanks to a 1-0 home win against fellow promotion hopefuls Chesterfield.Michael Bostwick's deflected effort in the first half settled the contest for Posh who held onto their advantage despite having defender Ricardo Santos sent off just after the hour.Chesterfield dominated the early stages with Peterborough goalkeeper Ben Alnwick forced to make a double save from Jay O'Shea. But it was Posh who grabbed the lead after 21 minutes. Conor Washington broke into the area down the left and, when the ball was only cleared to Bostwick around 15 yards out, his scuffed shot deflected into the net past the helpless Tommy Lee.After several saves from both goalkeepers the home side went down to 10 men when Santos received a second yellow card for tripping Sam Clucas.Washington saw a close-range effort saved before Peterborough defender Gabriel Zakuani hit a back pass against his own post.Alnwick then made a flying one-handed save from Gary Roberts' shot as dogged defending saw Posh hold on for their fifth win in six matches under caretaker boss Dave Robertson.
