Warriors battle to first-leg lead

Stenhousemuir look in pole position to stay in Scottish League One after a 1-0 first-leg victory over Queen's Park at Hampden Park. The Warriors, who finished ninth in the third tier, had the better of their League Two opponents for the majority of the game but had to settle for a slender advantage given to them by Jamie McCormack's second-half strike. The visitors could have been out of sight had it not been for Queen's Park goalkeeper Willie Muir who made a string of fine saves, not least from a Paul McMullan free-kick and a Colin McMenamin effort in the first half. But there was nothing Muir could do about decisive moment in the game 11 minutes after the restart as McCormack headed home McMullan's free-kick.The Spiders huffed and puffed for a way back into the game but they almost fell further behind when Ross McMillan's shot crashed into the post.It means Gus MacPherson's men must travel to Ochilview Park on Saturday and win to keep their promotion dream alive.
