Dean Parrett scores twice to help Stevenage to victory at Morecambe

Dean Parrett scored twice as Stevenage secured the double over Morecambe with a 4-1 Sky Bet League Two victory.Morecambe took the lead in the 19th minute with a goal from Cole Stockton. Jamie Devitt swung in a corner from the right and Chris Doyle threw himself at the ball to direct a superb diving header towards goal with Stockton getting the final touch.Stevenage were denied a leveller five minutes later by a superb double save from Barry Roche, who blocked Fraser Franks' header before spreading himself to block Luke Wilkinson's follow up.The home side's defence gave Stevenage a helping hand though with the softest of own goals after 38 minutes when Alan Goodall somehow turned a Parrett corner past his own keeper from six yards.Parrett turned goalscorer on the stroke of half time when Stevenage broke at pace with Greg Luer beating Shaun Beeley and crossing for the former Spurs youngster to score at full stretch from six yards out.The second half saw both sides miss good early chances with Luer firing well over after getting in behind Luke Conlan and Morecambe midfielder Tom Barkhuizen produced an equally wayward finish after creating a great opening for himself.Parrett showed the way again after 71 minutes when he scored Stevenage's third when left unmarked in the area to stroke home the loose ball from 12 yards out into the bottom right hand corner of the Morecambe goal.Ben Kennedy added a fourth after 86 minutes with a neat finish from the edge of the area as Stevenage secured an all too comfortable victory to add further pressure on home boss Jim Bentley.
