- Damion Lowe - 90'+2' OG
Orlando City stun Inter Miami via OG in extra time
Orlando City broke through on an own goal in the second minute of extra time to win the Florida Derby 1-0 over visiting Inter Miami early Sunday morning.A cross was turned into the goal by Inter Miami defender Damion Lowe for the own goal. He had a chance to break the deadlock earlier in the second half but couldn't redirect his header on frame. The game ended shortly after midnight after the teams endured a two-hour and 16-minute weather delay.Despite the delay, the teams fought hard and generated chances throughout the first half. However, it was Orlando City (8-7-4, 28 points) that would scrap their way to the win.Inter Miami (6-8-4, 22 points) thought they would have the early 1-0 lead after Indiana Vassilev had a clear-cut chance. But Orlando City goalkeeper Pedro Gallese stopped the shot with his face to keep the visitors off the scoresheet.Gallese finished the night with one save, and it was crucial in preserving the three points for the hosts. The second half opened much the same way the first half's late stages developed, with a lot of back-and-forth play. Inter Miami had the early, dangerous chances but were unable to generate a shot on goal.Orlando City then boxed Inter Miami in for a long stretch. Finally, they generated their first shot on goal after Junior Urso chipped a pass into an onrushing Ruan, but goalkeeper Drake Callender snagged the shot.Callender saved the only shot on goal by the Purple Lions, but it was the unfortunate own goal that ended his bid for a clean sheet.Moments later, Ruan cut the ball back across goal into Benji Michel's path, but Callender again slammed the door shut.Inter Miami would threaten again after the extended Orlando City pressure, but last-ditch defending from the backline and Gallese prevented a breakthrough. As the game entered the last 20 minutes, Inter Miami threatened Gallese's box and earned a corner, but Lowe could not get his header on frame from the short corner.--Field Level Media
