Trinity Rodman leaves game in a wheelchair vs. Current

Washington Spirit star Trinity Rodman suffers a back injury and exits the game via wheelchair vs. the Kansas City Current.

With Washington losing star forward Trinity Rodman to a back injury, the Kansas City Current, led by Nichelle Prince, beat the visiting Spirit 3-0 at CPKC Stadium on Friday night. Prince scored in the fourth minute to set the tone for a commanding performance by Kansas City.

Rodman left the field in a wheelchair after she suffered the injury in the 75th minute. She received treatment from Washington's training staff before being taken to the locker room.

Spirit coach Jonatan Giráldez said Rodman would be reevaluated when the team returned to Washington, D.C.

Washington (14-2-5) could not score despite multiple attempts from Rodman and Rosemonde Kouassi. Rodman had six shots (two on target) but couldn't find the back of the net. Kouassi had two shots (one on target). Goalkeeper Almuth Schult made four saves for Kansas City (12-6-3).

Cooper, who assisted on Prince's goal, was shown a yellow card for a foul in the 30th minute.
