Vivianne Miedema scored a brace as Manchester City claimed a dominant 6-0 Women's Super League win over bottom side Leicester at the Joie Stadium.

In the first half, City scored four goals in 16 minutes when Khadija Shaw fired them ahead and two goals from Miedema, along with Yui Hasegawa's strike, gave the hosts a 4-0 advantage at the break.

Goals from Kerolin and Aoba Fujino completed a comfortable display for the league leaders, who are 11 points clear of second-placed rivals Manchester United -- who play on Sunday -- while a fourth-straight loss keeps the Foxes rock bottom.

Shaw saw an excellent opportunity go wide in the opening stages and Leicester then came close when Alisha Lehmann rattled the post.

City were on the attack again as Shaw forced a save from Olivia Clark and Miedema's low shot bounced off the inside of the post before the Netherlands striker was in the thick of the action again when her diving header was saved by Clark.

The home side eventually broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute when Shaw flicked a header home from Lauren Hemp's chipped cross into the area.

Six minutes later, Miedema won the ball on the edge of the 18-yard box before smashing an effort into the bottom corner and she completed her brace in the 36th minute with a cool header into the top corner from Hemp's delivery.

Hasegawa continued City's ruthless display with a fourth goal -- two minutes later -- as she hit a first-time finish past Clark from Kerolin's low pass into the area.

Kerolin piled more misery onto Leicester only three minutes into the second half with a stunning top-corner strike from outside of the area.

Hemp hit a curling effort just wide before Fujino went around goalkeeper Clark and fired home in the 66th minute to complete a ruthless display from the league leaders.
