Tillman, Jenkins help VCU defeat VMI 75-65
RICHMOND, Va. -- Justin Tillman scored 19 points with 13 rebounds and De'Riante Jenkins added 17 with four 3-pointers as VCU cruised past VMI 75-65 Friday night.
VCU (8-5) led for all but about two minutes and built a 39-21 halftime lead with 53 percent shooting before the break, including six of the team's nine 3-pointers. The Rams cooled off to 47 percent shooting for the game, but built a 23-point lead by 8:09 of the second half.
Garrett Gilkeson led the Keydets (5-6) with a career-high 12 points but was the only VMI player to break double figures. The Keydets made just seven of their first 27 shots as they fell behind in the first half. VMI lost a two-game win streak.
Tillman's double-double was his fourth of the season and second in as many games as the Rams have won their last three games.
