Griffin scores 20 to help Saint Peter's beat Houston Baptist

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Nick Griffin hit four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points and Samuel Idowu made a late 3 to help Saint Peter's beat Houston Baptist 76-74 on Wednesday night.

Davauhnte Turner had 14 points and six assists and Idowu added 10 points, six rebounds and two blocks for Saint Peter's (4-4).

David Caraher hit two 3-pointers during a 12-4 run that gave HBU (3-6) a 72-69 lead with three minutes to go. The Huskies missed their next six field-goal attempts as Saint Peter's scored seven consecutive points to open a four-point lead after Idowu's 3 with 12 seconds left. Caraher hit a jumper to cap the scoring with one second left.

Josh Ibarra had 26 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks for HBU. Caraher finished with a career-high 21 points, including four 3-pointers, and Jalon Gates scored 11 points.

Saint Peter's shot 50 percent from the field, including 10 of 21 from 3-point range, and hit 16 of 17 free throws.
