Rider surges past Saint Peter's in 2nd half, win 88-84

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Dimencio Vaughn scored 34 points and Rider used a strong second half to get past Saint Peter's, 88-84 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game Thursday night.

Saint Peter's swept the season series with Rider a year ago.

The Peacocks (8-10, 2-5) led by six at intermission, 43-37, but Jordan Allen scored on a layup and nailed a 3 to get the Broncs (12-7, 5-2) within one a minute into the second half. Vaughn's 3-point play with 14:29 left put Rider ahead for good, 52-51.

Vaughn hit 13 of 18 from the floor, including 5 of 6 from distance. Tyere Marshall added 15 points and Allen contributed 13.

Davauhnte Turner hit 11 of 20 shots from the field, including 6 of 10 from behind the three-point stripe, to score 34 points to lead Saint Peter's. Nick Griffin added 17 points.
