Reese leads Canisius over Manhattan to set up MAAC showdown

NEW YORK -- Isaiah Reese scored all 22 of his points in the second half and Canisius stayed tied atop the conference standings with a 68-59 win over Manhattan on Friday night.

Reese was 6 of 11 from 3-point range in the second half, including a trio of 3s during an 11-0 run early in the period that gave the Golden Griffins (12-8, 6-1) the lead for good. Canisius will visit Iona (6-1) on Sunday with sole possession of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference top spot at stake.

Reese made a 25-footer with 2:35 left that made it 62-50 and the Griffins led by at least 10 until Thomas Capuano capped the scoring for Manhattan with a 3-pointer.

Reese had six assists and six steals, Takal Molson added 14 points and Jermaine Crumpton scored 12 for Canisius.

The Jaspers (9-10, 4-3) led by as many as six late in the first half. Pauly Paulicap had 17 points and Rich Williams added 12.
