Fisher's 10 points in OT help Siena get past Iona 82-78
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Evan Fisher had 10 of his 21 points in overtime, including two free throws with 12.4 seconds left, to help Siena beat Iona 82-78 on Monday night.
Fisher's free throws made it 81-78 and Iona's Zach Lewis missed an open look at a 3-pointer that would have tied it with eight seconds left. Kadeem Smithen secured the rebound and made 1 of 2 free throws to cap the scoring.
Fisher made 3-pointers on Siena's first two possessions of overtime and the Saints (8-19, 4-10 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) led the rest of the way. Ricky McGill's layup with 17 seconds left cut Iona's deficit to 79-78.
Siena trailed for over 22 straight minutes in regulation until taking the lead at 64-63 on Khalil Richard's jumper with 3:26 left. McGill gave the Gaels (16-11, 10-5) a 66-64 lead with 1:26 left and Jordan Horn's jumper for the Saints tied it at 25 seconds.
Richard had a career-high 22 points for Siena. Horn added 18 and Prince Oduro scored 12.
Roland Griffin had 21 points and nine rebounds and TK Edogi had 14 and 13 to lead Iona.
