Casimir scores season-high 30 in Iona's 88-75 victory
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Schadrac Casimir made five 3-pointers and scored a season-high 30 points and Iona defeated Manhattan 88-75 on Friday night.
The Gaels (17-12, 11-6) snapped a two-game skid and can finish in a tie for third with Niagara in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a win at co-league leader Rider on Sunday.
Rickey McGill made all seven of his shots, including three 3-pointers, and scored 17 points with seven assists while Roland Griffin and E.J. Crawford scored 14 points each for Iona.
Pauly Paulicap scored 16 points with 13 rebounds, Thomas Capuano added 15 points, Rich Williams 14 and Zavier Turner grabbed 11 rebounds to go with nine points for the Jaspers (13-16, 8-9).
Iona, which led for all but 16 seconds, used a 19-6 run to take a 55-35 lead. Manhattan got within six with 5:45 left but Casimir scored nine points to start a 14-7 game-ending run.
Iona made 12 of 22 3-point tries and shot 50 percent overall.
