Green, Pusica, Brace help Northeastern beat Hofstra 81-67
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Bolden Brace, Vasa Pusica and Anthony Green each had a double-double on Thursday night to help Northeastern beat Hofstra 81-67 for its fourth win in a row.
Brace had 14 points and 10 rebounds, Green added 14 and 10 and Pusica finished with 16 points, five rebounds and a career-high 10 assists. Shawn Occeus scored 16 points, and Donnell Gresham 11, for Northeastern (14-7, 7-2 Colonial Athletic Association), which avenged a 71-70 home loss to the Pride (12-9, 5-9) on Jan. 2.
Pusica scored seven points during a 14-2 run that made it 26-16 and the Huskies led the rest of the way. Rokas Gustys hit a jumper to cap an 11-3 spurt that pulled Hofstra within two points, but Brace hit a 3 to close the first half, and Gresham added another to open the second that gave Northeastern a 39-30 lead.
A dunk by Gustys made it 57-52 with nine minutes to play, Occeus answered with a 3 and the Huskies hit 15 of 16 free throws in the final 6 1/2 minutes to seal it.
Justin Wright-Foreman led Hofstra with 20 points but made just 6 of 20 from the field. Gustys finished with 13 points, on 6-of-6 shooting, and 10 rebounds -- his ninth double-double of the season.
