Stetson turns back Kennesaw State 86-74
DELAND, Fla. -- Divine Myles finished with 20 points and five assists and Abayomi Iyiola added 18 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots to lead Stetson to an 86-74 victory over Kennesaw State on Saturday.
Myles hit half of his 14 shots and Iyiola knocked down 9 of 11 from the floor to help the Hatters (12-18, 4-9 Atlantic Sun Conference) shoot 55 percent (35 of 64). Angel Rivera chipped in with eight points, eight assists and seven rebounds as Stetson won for just the second time in 11 games.
Nick Masterson and Anthony Wilson scored 14 apiece to pace the Owls (10-18, 6-7), who had a four-game winning streak snapped. Kennesaw State also shot 55 percent from the floor (28 of 51), but Stetson forced the Owls into 15 turnovers and that led to 28-18 advantage in points off turnovers for the Hatters. Stetson also dominated in points in the paint 50-36.
Kennesaw State led 39-38 at halftime, but Iyiola scored eight and Leo Goodman had a 4-point play to give Stetson a 63-56 lead with 11 minutes remaining and the Hatters used a late 9-0 spurt to wrap up the win.
