Havener scores 21, sparks Boston U past Lafayette, 75-72
EASTON, Pa. -- Nick Havener scored a career-high 21 points off the bench to spark Boston University to a 75-72 victory over Lafayette on Wednesday night.
The victory gives the Terriers seven wins in their first nine Patriot League games, surpassing their win total from a year ago and marks their best league start since an 8-2 start in 2014.
Tyler Scanlon converted two free throws with :30 left to give BU a 74-64 lead, but Alex Petrie hit a 3 and Matt Klinewski added two free throws to halve that margin.
Scanlon and Javante McCoy each finished with 13 points for the Terriers (11-9, 7-2). Max Mahoney added 12 points.
Petrie had 22 points to lead the Leopards (5-15, 3-6), with Klinewski adding 20 and Paulius Zalys 16.
BU plays host to Patriot League leader Bucknell Sunday. The Bison are 8-1 in conference after posting an 87-67 win over Navy Wednesday.
