UAB beats Le Moyne-Owen 81-57 behind Cokley's 19 points
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Chris Cokley scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his third straight double-double and UAB never trailed in beating Division III Le Moyne-Owen 81-57 on Thursday night for its first 3-0 start since 2013-14.
William Lee scored 14 points with nine rebounds and three blocks and is 35 blocks shy of becoming UAB's all-time leader. Nick Norton had nine assists, and Zack Bryant had 14 points and four of UAB's 13 steals, which helped the Blazers score 22 points off of 18 Magicians turnovers.
Cokley put UAB up for good, 3-2, with a free throw less than a minute in and the Blazers led 47-26 at halftime behind his 10 points. Bryant and Cokely made back-to-back dunks for a 25-point lead early in the second half and the Blazers cruised.
Rashawn Ellis scored 26 points with four 3-pointers for Le Moyne-Owen, which plays in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
It was the first meeting between the teams.
