Elmore's 26 leads Marshall past William & Mary, 84-64

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Jon Elmore scored 26 points and became the third player in Marshall history to reach 2,000 career points as the Thundering Herd stampeded past William & Mary, 84-64 on Wednesday night.

The victory was Marshall's first against the Tribe in three starts and its fourth straight win at home to start the season.

Elmore hit a 3 with :04 left in the first half to send Marshall (5-1) into intermission with a 46-37 advantage, then found C.J. Burks for a 3 that pushed the lead to 56-43 minutes into the second half. The lead stayed in double digits the rest of the way.

Elmore hit 7 of 16 from the floor, including 4 of 8 from distance, grabbed five rebounds, dished five assists and collected two steals. Burks contributed 16 points and grabbed six boards.

Paul Rowley scored 12 points off the bench for the Tribe (2-5).
