Petrie scores 26, Lafayette beats Fairleigh Dickinson 80-76
TEANECK, N.J. -- Alex Petrie had 26 points and Lukas Jarrett scored a career-high 17 on 8-of-10 shooting to help Lafayette beat Fairleigh Dickinson 80-76 on Sunday.
Justin Jaworski added 11 points for Lafayette. The Leopards (2-3), who came in averaging 17.5 turnovers per game, committed a season-low eight against FDU.
Petrie, Jaworski and Tyrone Perry each hit a 3-pointer in a 62-second span to spark an 18-2 run that gave Lafayette a 70-62 lead -- its first since 8-7 -- when Petrie added another 3 with 5:41 to play. Mike Holloway Jr.'s layup pulled the Knights within two points with 2:08 left but Petrie made 4 of 4, and E.J. Stephens hit 2 of 2, free throws from there to seal it.
Xzavier Malone-Key led Fairleigh Dickinson (3-2) with 19 points, including five 3-pointers. Darnell Edge scored 17 and Holloway added 15.
The Knights led by as many as 12 points in the first half and had a 62-52 lead with 10 minutes to play. Petrie scored 10 points, and FDU made just 6 of 15 from the field with four turnovers, from there.
