McKay scores 23, Central Michigan beats NAIA Siena Heights
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Kevin McKay scored 23 points, Shawn Roundtree and Larry Austin Jr. added 17 apiece and Central Michigan beat NAIA Siena Heights 103-75 on Sunday.
David DiLeo hit three 3-pointers and finished with 14 points, Rob Montgomery scored 11 and Dallas Morgan added 10 for Central Michigan.
Austin scored seven points during a 14-3 run, including a 3-point play to cap the spurt, that made it 46-32 with 2:52 left in the first half and the Chippewas (5-1) led by double figures the rest of the way. They took a 14-point lead into the break and then scored 11 of the first 16 second-half points to make it 63-43 with nearly 17 minutes to go and DiLeo hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give CMU a 32-point lead about 11 minutes later.
Sergio Stephen and Josh Winowiecki scored 11 points apiece for Siena Heights.
CMU shot 52 percent from the field, made 35 of 47 from the free-throw line and had a season-high 17 steals. The Chippewas scored 32 points off 24 Siena Heights turnover.
