Jackson State defeats NAIA Fisk, 77-56
JACKSON, Miss. -- — Jontrell Walker scored 17 points, Jayveous McKinnis added 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Jackson State defeated NAIA Fisk 77-56 on Tuesday night.
Chris Howell had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers (2-8) and Venji Wallis scored 13 points.
Fisk was led by Marcus Summerville with 17 points and Montreal Nabors added 14 points and seven rebounds.
The Bulldogs led through the early minutes before Jackson State finished the first half on a 29-10 run for a 40-22 halftime lead. McKinnis opened the second half with a 3-pointer and the Tigers maintained at least a 15-point lead throughout the half.
Jackson State shot 49 percent from the field to Fisk's 31 percent. Both teams had 15 turnovers and 11 assists.
