OREM, Utah -- — Phillip Russell had 20 points in UT Arlington's 78-65 win over Utah Valley on Saturday night.
Russell shot 7 for 14 (2 for 5 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free throw line for the Mavericks (17-13, 12-7 Western Athletic Conference). DaJuan Gordon scored 17 points while shooting 5 of 7 from the field and 6 for 8 from the line, and added 13 rebounds. Shemar Wilson was 2 of 6 shooting and 9 of 11 from the free throw line to finish with 13 points.
Drake Allen led the Wolverines (14-15, 9-9) in scoring, finishing with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists. Trevin Dorius added 12 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks for Utah Valley. Tanner Toolson also had 10 points and two steals. The loss snapped the Wolverines' five-game winning streak.
