JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- — Corey Washington scored 20 points as Saint Peter's beat Iona 69-57 on Friday night.
Washington also contributed nine rebounds for the Peacocks (7-5, 3-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Armoni Zeigler was 4 of 9 shooting, including 2 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 5 from the line to add 14 points. Latrell Reid shot 3 for 8 (1 for 3 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free throw line to finish with nine points.
Osborn Shema finished with 15 points and three blocks for the Gaels (6-8, 1-2). Jean Aranguren added 12 points for Iona. In addition, Wheza Panzo had eight points, five assists and three steals.
These two teams both play Sunday. Saint Peter's hosts Mount St. Mary's and Iona hosts Niagara.
