Kenney's late free throws lift Holy Cross past American 58-56

WORCESTER, Mass. -- — Caleb Kenney hit four straight free throws in the final 26 seconds to lift Holy Cross to a 58-56 win over American on Saturday.

Bo Montgomery led Holy Cross with 13 points and five rebounds for the Crusaders (8-17, 5-7 Patriot League). Kenney scored 12 points while shooting 4 of 7 from the field and 4 for 6 from the line, and added seven rebounds and four blocks. A.J. Wills had 12 points and shot 4 for 10 (2 for 5 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free throw line.

Matt Rogers led the way for the Eagles (13-12, 7-5) with 18 points. Matt Mayock added 17 points for American. Greg Jones also had eight points and seven rebounds.

Wills scored 10 points in the first half and Holy Cross went into halftime trailing 32-26. Montgomery scored a team-high nine points for Holy Cross in the second half. Holy Cross outscored American by eight points over the final half.

Both teams next play Wednesday. Holy Cross visits Colgate and American plays Navy on the road.
