STANFORD, Calif. -- — Spencer Jones hit eight 3-pointers and scored 30 points, both career highs, freshman Kanaan Carlyle scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half and Stanford blew most of a double-digit lead Saturday night before the Cardinal beat Washington 90-80.
Jones is tied with Payton Pritchard (Oregon, 2016-20) for ninth on the Pac-12's career list with 289 made 3s. Carlyle added five assists and two blocks for Stanford (10-8, 5-3).
Washington took a 3-2 lead when Paul Mulcahy hit a 3-pointer 32 seconds into the game but Jones answered with a 3 just 45 seconds later and Stanford never again trailed. Jones hit a 3 and then scored in the lane before Andrej Stojakovic made a jumper to cap a 14-2 run that gave the Cardinal a 13-point lead with 12:40 left in the first half.
Mulcahy made a 3 and a layup 30 seconds apart to trim the Huskies' deficit to 48-46 about five minutes into the second half. Jones hit three 3-pointers in less than two minutes and Brandon Angel's jumper with 10:35 to play made it a 10-point game. Keion Brooks Jr. converted a three-point play to cap a 10-1 spurt with 7:47 remaining but Jones again answered with a 3 to keep the Cardinal in front.
Carlyle scored eight points from there and Stanford made 11 of 14 from the free-throw line over the final three minutes to seal it.
Brooks had 22 points and 11 rebounds for Washington (11-8, 3-5) and Moses Wood scored 18. Wilhelm Breidenbach added 12 points and 10 rebounds, Sahvir Wheeler also scored 12 and Mulcahy added 10 points.
Angel and Michael Jones each scored 13 points for Stanford. Maxime Raynaud added nine points and nine rebounds.
Washington kicks off a three-game home stand when the Huskies play host to Colorado on Wednesday. Stanford is off until Friday, when the Cardinal play at Cal in the first of three consecutive road games.
