Jordan, Broncs fine from the foul line in 74-64 MAAC opener

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Stevie Jordan scored 14 of his 23 points from the foul line and Rider beat Marist 74-64 on Monday night in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opener.

Jordan was 14 of 17 from the line -- both career-high marks -- tied a career-high six steals and distributed five assists. Tyere Marshall scored 19 points with nine rebounds and Frederick Scott scored 11 points. Jordan, Marshall and Scott combined to shoot 31 of 36 (86%) from the foul line. The Broncs (7-2) as team finished 37 of 48 (77.1%) from the foul line.

Marshall made a pair of free throws to give Rider a 62-49 lead with 7:03 remaining. The Red Foxes went on a 12-2 run over the next 4-1/2 minutes but never got closer.

Michael Cubbage led Marist (1-6) with 15 points. The Red Foxes shot 25 of 48 (52%) but made just 13 trips to the foul line and made eight.
