Magic rally past Squadron for 111-106 road win
The Osceola Magic defeated the Birmingham Squadron 111-106 on Thursday at the Legacy Arena at BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama. Osceola overcame a nine-point halftime deficit by outscoring Birmingham 59-45 in the second half.
The Magic (6-2) showcased a balanced offensive attack with six players scoring in double figures. Javonte Smart led the team with 24 points on an efficient 11-for-16 shooting. Lester Quinones contributed 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists, hitting several crucial free throws in the final minute to seal the win. Guard Reece Beekman added 14 points and three assists. Alex Morales had a double-double of 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Off the bench, Phillip Wheeler scored 13 points, while Johnell Davis provided 11 points and three steals.
For the Squadron (4-5), D.J. Carton delivered a game-high 30 points and led all players with eight assists. Center Josh Oduro was a dominant presence in the paint, scoring 25 points and grabbing nine rebounds before fouling out. Keion Brooks Jr. posted 16 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks in the effort. Jaden Springer was the fourth Squadron player in double digits, finishing with 13 points and two steals.
Birmingham controlled the first half, taking a 61-52 lead into the locker room. However, Osceola stormed back in the third quarter, outscoring the Squadron 33-25 to cut the deficit to a single point heading into the final period. The Magic completed the comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Squadron 26-20 to earn their fifth road win of the season.
