Keels scores 29 as Skyforce defeat Hustle

The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Memphis Hustle 119-107 on Tuesday night at the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi, weathering a second-half comeback attempt from the home team. The Skyforce used a balanced offensive attack, with three players scoring more than 20 points, to secure the road victory and extend their winning streak in the building to five games.

Trevor Keels led all scorers with 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting and added six rebounds for the victorious Skyforce (6-4). Josh Christopher contributed 25 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while Jahmir Young posted 23 points and a team-high eight assists. Off the bench, Dain Dainja was a force with 13 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks. Myron Gardner also reached double figures with 11 points and seven rebounds.

The short-handed Memphis Hustle (1-7), playing with only eight available players, were led by Nate Hinton's 25 points and three steals; he also had seven rebounds. Tyler Burton added 19 points and five rebounds. The Hustle saw double-doubles from two players, as Lawson Lovering finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season, and Charlie Brown Jr. recorded 14 points and 10 assists. Jordan Minor and Evan Gilyard II also scored in double figures with 11 and 12 points, respectively.

Sioux Falls built a lead as large as 18 points in the second quarter before Memphis mounted a furious comeback, cutting the deficit to just one point late in the third quarter. However, the Skyforce responded with a 6-0 run to end the period and never relinquished the lead in the fourth. Sioux Falls shot better than 50% from the field for the game. The Skyforce also dominated in transition, outscoring Memphis 33-17 in fast-break points. The loss was the fifth straight overall for the Hustle.

Up next: Sioux Falls travels to face the Salt Lake City Stars on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 8 p.m. ET, and Memphis will host the Texas Legends at 8 on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
