Bouknight scores 19 as Capitanes cruise past Vipers
The Mexico City Capitanes defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 122-97 at the Mexico City Arena on Tuesday, using a dominant second quarter to pull away and secure their seventh consecutive home victory.
James Bouknight led a balanced scoring attack for the Capitanes (9-2) with 19 points and four rebounds. Mexico City featured seven players in double figures, showcasing a deep offensive performance. LJ Figueroa provided a spark with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals, while Wade Taylor IV was efficient from long range, scoring 16 points on 4-for-6 shooting from beyond the arc to go along with seven assists. The Vipers jumped out to an early lead, outscoring the Capitanes 36-25 in the opening quarter. The momentum shifted dramatically in the second quarter, as Mexico City mounted a 36-19 run to take a 61-55 lead into halftime. The Capitanes did not relinquish control, extending their lead in the third quarter and sealing the victory with a 33-14 fourth quarter. The win keeps the Capitanes undefeated on their home court this season.
