Armstrong's 27 points lead Legends past Hustle in 132-123 shootout

The Texas Legends defeated the Memphis Hustle 132-123 on Wednesday night at the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi, using a prolific 3-point shooting performance to secure the road victory. The Legends connected on 22 3-pointers, setting a blistering pace that the Hustle could not match and resulting in Memphis' sixth consecutive loss.

Mark Armstrong paced a balanced attack for the Legends (5-6), scoring a game-high 27 points on an efficient 9-of-12 shooting, including four 3-pointers. He led six Texas players in double figures. Sheldon Edwards Jr. added 21 points on five 3-pointers to go with four assists. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl finished with 20 points, six rebounds and three blocks. D'Moi Hodge provided 17 points off the bench, Matt Cross chipped in 18 points and eight rebounds and Jordan Hall contributed 16 points. The Legends' offense was firing early, scoring a season-high 70 points in the first half.

For the Hustle (1-8), Tyler Burton scored 26 points with five assists. Reserve DeJon Jarreau had 21 points and eight assists in just 18 minutes. Nate Hinton recorded 21 points and eight rebounds, and Charlie Brown Jr. scored 17. The Hustle shared the ball well, with guard Evan Gilyard II orchestrating the offense and finishing with a game-high 13 assists. Abou Ousmane and Lucas Williamson also reached double figures with 10 points apiece.

The game's narrative was defined by the Legends' perimeter shooting versus the Hustle's interior play. Texas set the tone by hitting eight 3s in the first quarter, the most Memphis has allowed in an opening frame this season and finished the game shooting 50% from beyond the arc (22-of-44). While Memphis found success scoring inside, it was unable to consistently slow the barrage from deep.
