McClung, Knox lead Bulls past Clippers 131-104
The Windy City Bulls defeated the San Diego Clippers 131-104 on Thursday night at Frontwave Arena. The Bulls established a lead in the first quarter and never trailed again, securing their first victory against the Clippers franchise.
The Bulls (5-5) were powered by a dominant offensive performance, shooting 55% from the field as a team. Mac McClung led all scorers with 29 points on 12-for-15 shooting while also dishing out a game-high nine assists. Kevin Knox II was a force all night, recording a double-double with 28 points, 16 rebounds and five 3-pointers. Emanuel Miller also had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Off the bench, Mouhamadou Gueye was a key contributor with 18 points and eight rebounds, and starter RJ Nembhard Jr. added 16 points and seven rebounds.
For the Clippers (4-7), who were playing the second game of a back-to-back set, Hunter Sallis provided a major spark off the bench with a team-high 22 points. Patrick Baldwin Jr. overcame early foul trouble to score 16 points. Jahmyl Telfort contributed 15 points and six rebounds for the Clippers. Other double-digit scorers included Derek Ogbeide with 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench, John Poulakidas with 13 points, and Zach Freemantle, who posted 10 points and seven rebounds before fouling out.
The game also marked the return of Bulls guard Yuki Kawamura, who saw his first action of the season after being sidelined with a blood clot. In 16 minutes of play, Kawamura recorded two points and seven assists. The Bulls controlled the game from the outset, leading 31-23 after the first quarter and extending their advantage to 68-54 by halftime. The Clippers were unable to mount a significant comeback in the second half as the Bulls' offensive firepower proved to be too much.
