Travers' near triple-double leads Charge past short-handed Gold

The Cleveland Charge defeated the Grand Rapids Gold 125-105 on Tuesday night at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, completing a two-game series sweep. Cleveland led from start to finish, using a balanced offensive attack that saw six players score in double figures and weathering a third-quarter rally from Grand Rapids.

Luke Travers delivered a dominant performance off the bench for the Charge (6-4), narrowly missing a triple-double with 13 points, a game-high 15 rebounds and 9 assists. Guard Curtis Jones scored 25 points, knocking down five 3-pointers and making six assists. Coleman Hawkins had 15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks. Terrence Hargrove Jr. chipped in 16 points and seven rebounds. Key contributors James Akinjo and Moses Brown were out due to injuries.

Cleveland established control early, opening the game on an 8-0 run and building a 31-21 lead after the first quarter. The Charge maintained their advantage into halftime, leading 61-53. Grand Rapids mounted a comeback in the third quarter, fueled by Goodwin's scoring, and cut the deficit to just two points. However, Cleveland responded with a decisive run to close the period, reestablishing a 92-80 lead heading into the fourth. The Charge shot an efficient 50% from the field for the game and never relinquished their double-digit lead in the final frame.
