Bouknight's 28 points lead Capitanes past Clippers

James Bouknight scored 28 points to lead the Mexico City Capitanes to a 113-101 victory over the San Diego Clippers on Tuesday night at Mexico City Arena. After trailing by four points entering the final frame, the Capitanes outscored the Clippers 31-15 to close it out.

Bouknight was the offensive catalyst for Mexico City (11-3), shooting 10-for-20 from the field, including six 3-pointers, to go with four assists. Boo Buie also provided a scoring punch with 21 points on 7-for-13 shooting and five 3-pointers while adding six rebounds and four assists. Guard Ahmad Caver posted 18 points, four assists and three steals. RJ Melendez added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Wade Taylor IV registered a team-high six assists along with his 10 points. Andersson Garcia was a force on the glass, pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Clippers (5-8) were powered by a trio of high-scoring guards in the loss. Jahmyl Telfort led the team with 27 points and 10 rebounds while also dishing out four assists. John Poulakidas was a constant threat from deep, connecting on seven of his 14 three-point attempts to finish with 25 points and five rebounds. Jaelen House delivered a strong all-around performance, tallying 23 points and game highs of seven assists and six steals. Forward Zach Freemantle put up 13 points with eight rebounds.

San Diego took an 86-82 lead into the fourth. However, Mexico City went on a 16-0 scoring run late in the quarter to seize control. 

Up next: The Capitanes will visit the South Bay Lakers on Thursday at 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+), and the Clippers will host the Oklahoma City Blue on Friday at 10:30 p.m.
