Alexander's 31 points lead Squadron past Skyforce
Trey Alexander matched his season high of 31 points Wednesday night to lead the Birmingham Squadron to a 115-97 wire-to-wire victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce at Legacy Arena in Birmingham.
Alexander's performance was complemented by the play of fellow guard D.J. Carton, who finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for the Squadron (5-13). Center Hunter Dickinson posted 16 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks, and Josh Oduro contributed 15 points and seven boards. Jaden Springer had 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Skyforce (9-7) were led by Jahmir Young, who tallied 25 points and seven assists. Dennis Smith Jr. provided a spark off the bench with 18 points and five assists. Trevor Keels added 14 points and six assists, and Vladislav Goldin and Steve Settle III scored 12 points apiece. Goldin also had nine rebounds.
Birmingham established its dominance early, outscoring Sioux Falls 32-23 in the first quarter and extending the advantage to 68-54 by halftime. The Squadron's offense was efficient from long range, with Alexander shooting 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and Carton adding four 3-pointers.
