Kings hold off Spurs 119-115 behind Dennis' 23 points
The Stockton Kings defeated the Austin Spurs 119-115 on Thursday night behind 23 points, including three 3-pointers, from Dexter Dennis. The game at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park, Texas, remained close throughout, with Stockton holding a seven-point lead at halftime and a four-point advantage entering the final quarter before securing the road victory.
The Kings (10-4) featured a balanced scoring attack with six players reaching double figures. Jaylin Williams provided a major spark off the bench, recording a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Daeqwon Plowden contributed 18 points and eight rebounds, and point guard Isaiah Stevens orchestrated the offense with 15 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. DaQuan Jeffries added 13 points and eight boards, and Jon Elmore chipped in with 10 points.
For the Spurs (9-6), Donovan Williams led the team with 19 points and six rebounds. Stanley Umude and Jayden Nunn each finished with 17 points, with Umude hitting three shots from beyond the arc. Harrison Ingram nearly posted a double-double, concluding the night with 15 points and nine rebounds. Kyle Mangas added 12 points, 6 rebounds and a team-high 4 assists.
The Spurs lost a key contributor when forward David Jones Garcia, a G League All-Star selection, left the game late in the third quarter with an apparent ankle injury and did not return. He had scored 14 points in 23 minutes of action before the injury. Despite his absence, Austin kept the game within reach, but the Kings made key plays down the stretch to hold on for the win.
Up next: The Kings host the Iowa Wolves on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 10 p.m. EST. The Spurs host the Texas Legends on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 11:30 a.m. EST.
