Crutcher scores 25 as Wolves hold off Jeffries, Kings

Jalen Crutcher led the way with 25 points for the Iowa Wolves as they defeated the Stockton Kings 114-109 on Tuesday night at Adventist Health Arena, withstanding a 36-point outburst from the home team's DaQuan Jeffries.

Jules Bernard posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds for Iowa (12-7), while Enrique Freeman contributed 22 points and seven rebounds, and Crutcher made his mark with five three-pointers and eight assists. Alize Johnson nearly recorded a triple-double with 14 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. Center Rocco Zikarsky was a force inside, adding 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Iowa controlled the interior, outscoring Stockton 64-34 in the paint.

Jeffries delivered his game-high 36 points on 10-for-20 shooting, including five 3-pointers, and added five assists for Stockton (10-5). Daeqwon Plowden scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Isaiah Stevens chipped in with 14 points. And Jon Elmore provided a spark off the bench with 17 points, connecting on four of his six attempts from beyond the arc.

Stockton held a 28-25 lead after the first quarter, but Iowa surged ahead with a 28-18 second quarter to take a 53-46 advantage into halftime. The Kings battled back in the third, cutting the deficit to 81-78 entering the final period. However, timely shooting from Crutcher and consistent interior scoring allowed the Wolves to fend off Stockton's late rally after a 3-pointer by Jeffries with 1:16 remaining cut the lead to 105-100 and a Stevens driving layup got the Kings to within two points at 31 seconds left.

Up next: The Kings will visit the Texas Legends on Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET, and the Wolves will host the Maine Celtics on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
