Sean East II leads Stars past Clippers 128-120 in overtime
The Salt Lake City Stars defeated the San Diego Clippers 128-120 Wednesday in an overtime contest at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah. In a dominant overtime period, the Stars outscored the Clippers 8-0, to secure the victory after the game was tied at 120 at the end of regulation.
Sean East II led the charge for the Salt Lake City Stars (7-12), scoring a team-high 27 points while dishing out seven assists. Matthew Cleveland recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Dereon Seabron was a key playmaker, finishing with 19 points and seven assists. In the frontcourt, Mo Bamba was a force, contributing 16 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks. Justin Harmon and Max Abmas also scored in double figures, adding 16 and 14 points, respectively, for the Stars in a well-rounded offensive performance.
The San Diego Clippers (8-11) were paced by Jaelen House, who had a game-high 28 points to go along with nine assists, two steals, and two blocks in the loss. Patrick Baldwin Jr. posted a strong double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Hunter Sallis also had a productive night, finishing with 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Jahmyl Telfort controlled the glass for San Diego, pulling down 14 rebounds to accompany his 15 points. John Poulakidas and Taylor Funk chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively, as six Clippers reached double-digit scoring.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with the Clippers taking a 66-59 lead into halftime. The Stars responded with a strong third quarter, outscoring San Diego 35-20 to retake the lead heading into the final frame. The Clippers battled back in the fourth, with a turnaround jump shot by Jaelen House with six seconds left tying the game at 120 and forcing the extra period. However, Salt Lake City dominated the overtime session, with Dereon Seabron and Mo Bamba scoring all eight of the team's points to seal the win.
