Moore Jr. scores 30 as Motor City Cruise hold off Maine Celtics 109-103

The Motor City Cruise, who established a significant lead in the first half, withstood a late surge from the Maine Celtics to win 109-103 on Wednesday night at the Portland Expo Building in Maine. 

Wendell Moore Jr. led the way for the Cruise (11-10), scoring a game-high 30 points while adding six rebounds and seven assists. Drew Peterson finished with 20 points, nine rebounds and a game-high 10 assists, and Isaac Jones recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds. Off the bench, Makhi Mitchell scored 16 points on perfect 5-for-5 shooting from the field and grabbed seven rebounds in 19 minutes of action. Brice Williams contributed 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists, and John Ukomadu also reached double figures with 10 points.

For the Celtics (11-11), Amari Williams filled the stat sheet with 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting, seven rebounds, six assists and a game-high five blocks. John Tonje added 21 points and seven rebounds. Off the bench, Aaron Scott scored 16 points and shot 4-for-6 from 3-point range. Kameron Warrens chipped in with 14 points and four assists in a reserve role.

The Cruise jumped out to an early lead, outscoring the Celtics 31-21 in the first quarter. They continued to build on that advantage, extending their lead to 60-44 by halftime. Maine narrowed the gap by winning the third quarter 27-25 and the fourth quarter 32-24, but the early deficit proved too large to overcome. 

Up next: The Celtics visit the Delaware Blue Coats on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. ET, and the Cruise host the College Park Skyhawks on Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.
