Capitanes use dominant fourth to top Kings
The Mexico City Capitanes used a dominant fourth quarter to beat the Stockton Kings 107-86 on Wednesday night, outscoring the Kings 32-13 in the final period to secure the road victory at Adventist Health Arena.
The Capitanes (14-6) showcased a balanced attack with five players scoring in double figures, led by James Bouknight's 22 points, three assists and three steals. The bench was crucial for Mexico City, with RJ Melendez providing 19 points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Wade Taylor IV also had a strong performance in a reserve role, finishing with 15 points and eight assists. In the frontcourt, Andersson Garcia had 14 points and a game-high 19 rebounds. Jordan Minor added 10 points off the bench.
For the Kings (12-6), Jeffries scored a game-high 31 points on 13-of-21 shooting, adding five rebounds and four assists. He was particularly effective in the first half, when he scored 20 of his points. Stockton's bench also contributed, with Mitch Mascari scoring 13 points and Antoine Davis adding 12, all from behind the arc on 4-of-8 shooting.
Stockton appeared in control after building a 12-point lead with 2:51 remaining in the second quarter. However, the Capitanes stormed back with a 10-0 run to close the half, tying the game at 51-51, then outscored Stockton 56-35 the rest of the way.
