Jeffries scores 25 points to fuel Kings rout of Capitanes
DaQuan Jeffries sparked the Stockton Kings to a 113-98 victory over the Mexico City Capitanes on Thursday night at the Adventist Health Arena.
Jeffries led the Kings (13-6) with 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including five three-pointers. He also collected five rebounds. Gabe Levin finished with 12 points and a game-high 18 rebounds, to go along with five assists and five steals. Reserve Mitch Mascari scored 17 points, converting 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. Three other Kings also scored in double figures: Isaiah Stevens had 13 points and five assists, Jon Elmore contributed 13 points and Dexter Dennis chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds.
James Bouknight paced the Capitanes (14-7) with a game-high 26 points, including four three-pointers. Andersson Garcia had 17 points on 6-of-6 shooting and 11 rebounds. Felipe Haase added 12 points off the bench. Boo Buie had 11 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Ahmad Caver contributed 10 points.
Stockton took control of the game early, building a 33-22 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 56-44 by halftime. Mexico City opened the third quarter with a 13-4 run to cut the deficit to three, but it got no closer.
The victory allowed Stockton to earn a split in the two-game series after the Capitanes won Wednesday's contest 107-86.
