Hayes scores 18 in second half as Charge hold off Boom
Killian Hayes scored all 18 of his points in the second half, including two crucial baskets in the final minute, to lift the Cleveland Charge to a 124-120 victory over the host Noblesville Boom on Thursday night at The Arena at Innovation Mile in Indiana.
The Charge erased an 11-point halftime deficit and extended their road winning streak to seven games.
For Cleveland (15-6), Riley Minix and Emanuel Miller each scored a game-high 31 points. Minix also had 16 rebounds and four assists, and Miller contributed four rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Guard Darius Brown also posted a double-double with 12 points and 13 assists. With his performance, Brown established a single-season franchise record for assists, surpassing the previous mark held by Scoochie Smith. Hayes, who did not play in the first half, finished with 18 points, seven assists and four rebounds in 23 minutes.
Noblesville (13-9) was led by Gabe McGlothan, who posted 24 points and 10 rebounds, making 5-for-6 from 3-point range. DaJuan Gordon scored 20 points, and Cameron Hildreth added 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Jalen Slawson contributed 18 points, six rebounds and three blocks.
The teams traded leads throughout the first half until Noblesville surged late for a 67-56 lead at the break. Cleveland outscored Noblesville 36-24 in the third quarter and held a 92-91 advantage heading into a fourth quarter that featured multiple ties and lead changes. With the score tied at 118, Hayes hit a pullup jump shot with 43 seconds remaining and added another with 17 seconds left to seal the victory for Cleveland.
