Alexander, Carton score 24 each as Squadron surge past Go-Go
Trey Alexander and D.J. Carton led the way for the Squadron with 24 points apiece as Birmingham stopped the Capital City Go-Go 126-112 on Tuesday night at CareFirst Arena.
The Squadron (10-17) featured a balanced offensive attack with seven players scoring in double figures. Jaden Springer registered 19 points, and the frontcourt duo of Josh Oduro and Hunter Dickinson were formidable for the visitors. Oduro finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Dickinson posted a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Off the bench, Keion Brooks Jr. scored 14 points while going 4-for-4 from distance, and Christian Shumate added 10 points and nine rebounds. Alexander also contributed eight assists, while Carton nearly had a double-double with nine assists to go with his four steals.
For the Go-Go (12-12), Chris Livingston established a G League career high with 31 points while also securing 10 rebounds. Keshon Gilbert also recorded a double-double off the bench, scoring 18 points and dishing out a game-high 10 assists. Damari Monsanto scored 15 points, making four 3-pointers, while Skal Labissiere and Nolan Hickman each chipped in with 13 points, with Hickman doing so in a reserve role.
The 46 points allowed by Capital City in the third were the most the team has given up in any quarter this season. Birmingham shot 51% from the field and connected on 15 three-pointers. The Go-Go were hurt by 16 turnovers, which the Squadron converted into 21 points.
