Taylor, Garcia lead Capitanes past Boom
MEXICO CITY -- Behind strong performances from Wade Taylor IV and Andersson Garcia, the Mexico City Capitanes defeated the Noblesville Boom 122-110 at Mexico City Arena on Tuesday, overcoming an early deficit with a dominant fourth quarter. The Capitanes outscored the Boom 30-16 in the fourth to secure the victory.
The Capitanes (18-8) were led by a balanced offensive effort with six players scoring in double figures. Taylor scored a team-high 22 points, including five 3-pointers, and added three assists and three steals. Garcia recorded a dominant double-double with 10 points and 20 rebounds. RJ Melendez contributed 21 points and four rebounds, while both James Bouknight and LJ Figueroa added 20 points apiece. Boo Buie rounded out the top performers with 15 points and five rebounds for the home team.
For the Boom (14-13), MJ Iraldi delivered an all-around performance, finishing with a game-high 27 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds. DaJuan Gordon scored 24 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Au'Diese Toney was perfect from the field, scoring 18 points on 7-for-7 shooting, including making all four of his 3-point attempts. RJ Felton came off the bench to provide 19 points, and Samson Johnson added 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four blocks in the loss.
Noblesville started strong, taking a 27-18 lead after the first quarter. Mexico City stormed back with a 42-point second quarter, though the Boom maintained a slim 62-60 lead at halftime. After a third quarter where both teams scored 32 points, the Capitanes took control in the final period.
